The “Black History Shirt” was designed with great humility and respect for the tremendous contributions of Black Americans and the hope that those who wear this shirt will take a moment to learn the history of every individual pictured.

As an artist, I look for ways to express my values and to give back to the country that grants me the freedom to express myself. Our history includes countless individuals who have not always had that freedom, who have fought for basic constitutional rights, and who have stood up in the face of terrible racism to make us listen to their stories, see their art, hear their voices, and respect their lives. From Olaudah Equiano to Barak Obama, this shirt honors those Black Americans.

Each purchaser will receive, by e-mail, a guide to the individuals pictured. A portion of the proceeds of the Black History Shirt will go to The Village Initiative for Equity in Education https://www.villagewjcc.org/ which seeks to promote social justice on a local level. 

  • Fabric: Four-way stretch (95% polyester and 5% spandex)
  • Regular fit
  • Short sleeve, lapel collar, button closure
  • Fabric weight: 120g/m²
  • Care Instruction: machine wash cold with similar colors, do not bleach, tumble dry low, do not iron, do not dry clean.
